Diana & Paul of Essential Hawaii Tours on the Big Island of Hawaii.
Our goal at Essential Hawaii Tours is to have you learn, taste, discover and explore our Big Island and take home the memories we share together. Let us meet your expectations by booking your tour with Essential Hawaii Tours.
Aloha… my name is Paul. My wife Diana and I started Essential Hawaii Tours in 2015. We are originally from Southern California and moved to Hawai‘i in 2004. For 10 years prior to starting our company, I was a concierge booking agent for two major hotels and have personally helped thousands of guests visiting our Big Island plan their family activities. Three years ago, I started guiding small group tours on the Big Island for a top tour company and fell in love being a tour guide.
While on a tour, I had a guest make a comment to me. He said, “that he could not believe I get paid to do my job and that he would do it for free if he could.” Yes I am lucky to be able to guide you to the best scenic and historical sites on Hawai‘i. I enjoyed my job so much that we decided to make this my our full time careers. Diana has always been encouraging to start a tour company. With careful planning by both of us, we started Essential Hawai‘i Tours. Diana has taken time off from her elementary school teachers position after 18 years to help support our business and I resigned from my concierge position.
“No guts, no glory!” We took our savings and purchased the best equipment to have the foundation to be a very good touring company on the Big Island. We are a family owned business and if you decide to book with us, Diana will be the one answering our phones and coordinating the tour bookings. I will be driving and guiding our tours. Our small group guided tours will introduce you to the five volcanoes, natural beauty and amazing diversity of our Big Island. Let us take you out of the guidebooks and into the Hawai‘i you’ve been waiting to discover. All Essential Hawai‘i tours have been specifically designed to be educational, responsible and entertaining showcasing the cultural awareness and natural history of our island.
Beside guiding, here is something that Paul likes to do in his spare time. Hope to see you in Hawai’i!
